Heart of Viana

A masterpiece of Filigree and part of Portugal’s emotional heritage, the heart of Viana honours the dedication and worship to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Queen Mary I had it made as thanksgiving for the birth of a male child. The heart represents female fertility evidenced by the rounded shape that encloses a small circle connected to the centrepiece, symbolizing the link between mother and child in the womb.

The heart of Viana invokes love. The cornucopias that make up the design and the details that result from careful labour of patience and passion confer a matchless elegance, making this piece the most timeless of all Portuguese jewels.
