The Protocol
On October 27, 2022, a partnership was formed between Joalharia do Carmo, the municipalities of Gondomar and Póvoa de Lanhoso, and ACertifica to officially recognize and promote this unique heritage.

Joalharia do Carmo was a pioneer in implementing the UniqueMark® Digital Certificate by the Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda. Through the official Contrastaria app, this digital certificate provides comprehensive details about each piece, from laboratory testing to the hallmarking process. Every jewel is equipped with a tag and a card containing a unique cryptographic code, ensuring its traceability and authenticity.
This certification safeguards the legitimacy of the jewelry, protects against counterfeiting, and helps preserve the heritage of the artisanal craft.
Contrastaria Nacional
The Contrastaria, an official service of the INCM – Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda, ensures the independent assaying and hallmarking of precious metal articles, protecting consumers from counterfeits and promoting fair competition within the industry.
